Sushi with Fish

Ingredients japanese_chef_big

  • 2 cups round Taste of Asia sushi rice
  • ¾ cup Taste of Asia rice vinegar
  • 10 Taste of Asia nori seaweed sheets (silver / gold)
  • 3 Tbsp Taste of Asia sushi ginger
  • Taste of Asia Japanese style soy sauce
  • Taste of Asia wasabi paste or powder, according to taste
  • (These ingredients are also available in a ready-made Taste of Asia pack)
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 medium cucumbers cut in thin strips
  • 1 avocado cut in strips
  • 2 spring onions
  • 120 grams red tuna / salmon
  • Taste of Asia teriyaki sauce

Cooking Method

1. Boil the rice in water (2 cups of water for each cup of sushi). When rice is cooked, transfer to bowl.

2. Mix vinegar, sugar and salt, and add to the rice. Mix well and chill.

3. Place the nori on a sushi mat, with the rough side facing up. Spread a thin layer of rice on the nori, leaving 1 cm at the top edge of the nori.

4. Arrange a serving of vegetable and fish strips in a line at the top third of the rice.

5. Start to roll the nori and rice using the sushi mat, pressing gently to the end. Dampen the edge with a drop of water and close the roll.

6. Cut the roll into 8 pieces and serve with soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, wasabi and ginger on the side.
